Hostel World

Hostel World is an incredible website that allows you to search for accommodation almost everywhere in the world. Hostel World’s easy to use platform allows you to search through their massive database of Hotels, Guesthouses, and Hostels. When you are traveling on a budget Hostel World will help you find the right place for you by providing you with the ability to browse through photos, descriptions and customer reviews. Hotels at $100 a night can really eat up your travel budget so if you are looking for a cheaper alternative, I suggest you give Hostel World a try. 🙂

Air BnB

Air BnB is great tool for people on a budget. Airbnb.com provides travelers with an affordable alternative for accommodation. It works like this. Members of Air Bnb list their home for short term stays and travelers looking for accommodation can contact the listing on Air Bnb to make reservations. People who list their homes on Air BnB post pictures, descriptions, prices and are required to meet strict criteria in order to maintain their membership. Both members who list homes and rent homes are held to strict policy and a rating system designed to benefit both parties involved.

My experiences with Air Bnb have all been positive. I have always enjoyed my stay because it’s a little more personal than a hotel stay. The people who list their homes are typically very nice interested in making sure you enjoy your time visiting their city. I have not however, participated in listing my home on Air Bnb but I will definitely give it a try soon.

Couch Surfer

Couch Surfer is the great tool for travelers on a budget. Couch Surfer provides travelers free accommodation. I’ll say it again FREE ACCOMMODATION. It works like this. Members of Couch Surfer can list their couch for short term stays and travelers looking for a place to crash can contact the listing on Couch Surfer to make reservations. People who list their homes on Couch Surfer post pictures and descriptions of their home and are required to meet strict criteria in order to maintain their membership. Both members who list their couches and the couch surfers themselves are held to strict policy and a rating system designed to benefit both parties involved.

I have a profile on Couchsurfing.com but I have yet to use the service to couch surf. I did however put my couch on couchsurfer when I lived in San Diego ended up hosting a couple of French girls who were in town on holiday. I was pleased with the experience and look forward to possibly surfing some couches myself.
