Chiangrai-Gold-Temple

Most commonly known for being the sister city of Chaing Mai, Chiang Rai is a  thriving city with a wealth of religious history. Chaing Rai is famous for being home to the white temple, Wat Rong Khun. The Buddhist temple was designed by Chalermchai Kositpipat and opened in 1997. The entire temple was constructed by hand and is set to be completed by 2040.

What to do in Chiang Rai

  • Visit the White Temple (Wat Rong Khun): Built in 1997 by Chalermchai Kositpipat, the white temple was designed to help bridge together Buddhism and the western world. Kositpipat has spent most of his own money on the project and believes his work to be an offering to Lord Buddha and believes his project will earn him imortal life.
  • Chiang Rai Prachanukroh Hospital: The community hospital of Chaing Rai is the a land mark in the city. The hospital is very modern and they promote health and wellness by supporting a sports leagues and maintaining the sports fields in the area.
  • Basketball Court: located by the Chiang Rai Prachanukroh Hospital
  • Soccer Field (Astroturf): located by the Chaing Rai Prachanukroh Hospital. The soccer players here are very talented.
  • Volley Ball Courts (Sand): Wonderfully maintained sand volley ball courts located by the Chiang Rai Prachanukroh Hospital.
